Upload your work, write a short description for each piece, group them into categories or collections, mark the ones you want to feature on top. Each piece gets its own permalink you can share. The whole gallery has one public URL you can put on your business card. Drag-and-drop reordering, image lightbox, mobile-friendly, no template wrestling. The image files live on your disk in a folder you can copy, back up, or migrate without exporting from anyone.
Portfolio is not a website builder. It does one thing: show your work in a clean gallery on its own URL. No custom domain handling out of the box (point Cloudflare or your nginx at the binary if you want one). No e-commerce. No client proofing flow with watermarks and approval gates — that's a different product. No CDN (your images come off your server, so if you expect a viral moment, put Cloudflare in front of it). If you need a full design portfolio with shop, blog, and client gallery, Squarespace or Format is probably the right call. Portfolio is for the case where you just want to point at your work and not pay $16/month for it.
Tattoo artists showing off their flash and finished pieces. Photographers who don't want to give 500x.com a recurring fee. Illustrators, ceramicists, leatherworkers, woodworkers, graphic designers, interior designers, landscape designers — anyone whose business depends on people seeing the work but who doesn't need a whole CMS to do it.
